Combining funk, groove, prog, psychedelic rock, metal, country and everything in between, Fungkshui (pronounced "funk shway") is an improvisational rock band from the shore town of Asbury Park, New Jersey: Jack Reed (guitar, vocals), Max Vitale (guitar, vocals), Jon Schepis (bass, vocals), Dan Hogan (keys, organ, vocals) and Bobby Reilly (drums). The band has developed an unbreakable chemistry showcasing seamless grooves and segues, and has shared the stage with Pink Talking Fish, LaMP, Eggy, Octave Cat, Daniel Donato, Kick the Cat, Particle, Kung Fu, Pimps of Joytime and Consider the Source. Since the 2019 single "Barefoot Blues" the band has released the studio album Ready to Go (November 2023, Flatwound Records) and the live album Live From Brooklyn Bowl (July 2024). Fungkshui headlined the Wonder Bar for the first time in November 2022 and the Stone Pony in March 2025, and was named Jam/Funk/Groove Artist of the Year for 2025 at the Asbury Park Music Awards. In 2026 the band opened for Pink Talking Fish at Ardmore Music Hall, played Northlands Music & Arts Festival, and began recording a second studio album; its winter run takes in Maynard, Asheville, Nashville, Roanoke, Buffalo and Rochester before a hometown show at the Stone Pony with Octave Cat on December 12. The band's live shows are taped and shared with permission on archive.org, and full-show video goes up on their YouTube channel.
